Welcome to Ray's Sunshine
Hello Supports of Ray’s Sunshine Foundation!
I find myself writing this letter the day after Ray’s birthday. He would have been 11 years old. It has been 4 years since he passed away and we have been a 501C3 for almost 5 years. I cannot believe how fast time has flown by, but at the same time that it feels as if Ray left us only yesterday; but many things have also changed. We still miss Ray each and every day and wanted to share his love with the other children of the Hem/Onc and Stem Cell units. Ray was an amazing boy. He was a wonderful brother, son and friend to lots of other children. After long and careful consideration, Gary and I have decided to close the foundation. As you may expect, this was not a decision that we took lightly. We just felt that it was time to change our focus. We need to spend more time and give more attention to Jacob and our family. Jake is seven years old and is in 1st grade. We are entering a part of our life that we were not able to reach with Ray, the adventure of raising an energetic and healthy child. We are blessed and thank God daily for the lessons that we have learned and for the lessons we have left to learn. As our final act for the foundation, we have decided to support Zoe’s Bone Marrow Buddies (http://www.zoebmb.org ). This foundation works directly with Riley to change the atmosphere for the children and families of the Hematology/Oncology and Stem Cell Units of Riley Children’s Hospital. They have completed some amazing tasks for the Unit and I am happy to have met Zoe’s Mom, Tish. Although I never met her beautiful daughter, I feel very connected to them. I like to think that Ray and Zoe are running and playing, like healthy children, in their new home in Heaven. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. The website and phone will be up until February 8, 2009. The post office boxes will be open and any checks that are sent will be signed over to Zoe’s foundation, as have with the remaining funds from the foundation. We have appreciated your support these years and hope that you will join Gary and I in support of Zoe’s foundation in the way that you have supported Ray’s. God Bless you all,
